Diet

WOD Rest:

With today being the scheduled rest day i thought I'd spend a little time talking about diet, ask any crossfitter worth his or her salt and they'll recommend you follow the paleo diet lifestyle, I'm no different because simply put it works, is easy to follow, has no gaps or holes, is possible to follow for the rest of your life and from my experience is the key to unlocking your potential.
Put simply ill quote to the best of my memory from crossfit.com "Eat vegetable, meat, fruit, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar". Within that framework as you see in the picture above vegetables and meat should make up pretty much all of your meals, with nuts and seeds as snacks and supplementary fat. Almost all carbs come from fruit and very low GI carbs from the vegetables, being diabetic carbs are important for me to maintain blood sugar with insulin injections so i probably eat more fruit than is recommended but as with everyone it should be tailored to individual needs

Regarding amounts i will again recite a simple answer from crossfit.com that states to "eat amounts that support muscle and exercise and no more" with my experience i was definitely over eating previously in my life.

Ultimately eating this way is going to be difficult to transition to because sugar is like a drug and the body does not want to give it up, but with persistence and dedication it will become second nature. However once a status quo has been established it will only take a matter of weeks to notice results, results in bodyfat %, workout capacity and overall health and well being.

I urge anyone looking for a better way to live their lives to investigate and research the millions of recipes, pages and blogs that advocate this style of eating..

Bon apetit..
